About the Artwork

With his abstract paintings the artist embraces experimentation with the medium of oil and acrylic combined with charcoal and graphite. Flat fields of colour are underlaid with charcoal or graphite drawings and partly interrupted with richly pooled, dripped and poured paint. Process and composition are of equal importance so change happenings and autonomy of a chosen medium are part of the creative approach. Nonetheless, compositional spontaneity is achieved through meticulous layering that results in unexpected formal combinations.
